TN-Image - Summary (Version 2.02, 02-15-1995) TN-Image is a powerful imaging program that allows you to view, edit, create, and print TGA, PCX, IMG, TIF (both Macintosh and PC), JPEG and BMP, both color and monochrome images, as well as user- definable image formats of any depth from 1 to 32 bits/pixel. You can edit, cut/paste, add text, change brightness or contrast, superimpose, subtract, or XOR multiple images, and create drawings using lines, circles, Bezier curves, etc. You can change the color palette to one of 10,000 pre-defined palettes or graphically create a new one. It is completely menu-driven with an extremely user-friendly graphical user interface. Images, dialog boxes and graphs can all be click-and-dragged to any location so as not to obscure each other. Has context-sensitive help. TN-Image is particularly useful for scientific image analysis, with densitometry, image calibration, background subtraction, and automatic detection of bands, spots, and arbitrarily-shaped regions in your image. Images can be rotated, resized, warped, filtered (with sharpening, blurring, 3 types of edge enhancement, freeze-fracture effect, background subtraction, or median filtering), flipped, 2D-Fourier transformed, deconvoluted, and color-remapped. Quantitative data can be exported to an ASCII file with a single mouse click. TN-Image automatically uses up to 2 GB of extended and virtual memory. Up to 512 images can be edited simultaneously. The program runs in protected mode and requires an 80386 with a minimum of 4MB of RAM, DOS 3.2 or above, and a Super VGA monitor. It handles VESA, Trident, and Tseng screen modes from 640 x 400 to 1280 x 1024 resolution (in 256 to 16M color modes). A mouse is required. Inkjet or laser printer is required for printing. The shareware version of TN-Image is free of charge and can be downloaded from the TN-Image ftp sites las2.ninds.nih.gov and las1.ninds.nih.gov or from Compuserve (go IBMAPP) library 11. Please note, las1 is currently only available after 7 pm local time and on weekends. TN-Image can also be obtained directly from the author: T.J.
